Analysis of intraurban environmental quality in the municipality of Mossoró/RN.

The urbanization process without proper planning and urban management focused on the environment and the population can generate several socio-environmental problems the cities and their city, for example, the medium-sized city Mossoró, located in the state of Rio Grande do Norte - RN, in its urbanization process impacted and continues to impact environmental quality conditions. Urban environmental quality is a theoretical concept that can be applied to cities seeking to result in their conditions of environmental satisfaction, which can result from the association of variables that represent the urban reality. Therefore, the objective of this work is to identify the conditions of intraurban environmental quality of the municipality of Mossoró/RN, using geotechnologies, seeking to subsidize the planning and urban management of the city, as well as contribute to the development of urban sustainability. The nature of this research is applied, with a quantitative approach, before the objectives is descriptive, using bibliographic, documentary and field research. The socio-environmental variables that defined environmental quality were Land cover, land surface temperature, vegetation cover, occurrence of flooding and basic sanitation conditions. For each variable, a thematic letter was elaborated in the free software QGIS 3.10.7 'A Coruña' which will still have their negative aspects overlapping to result in the conditions of intraurban environmental quality of the municipality of Mossoró/RN. The results of the five socio-environmental variables studied show that the most central neighborhoods of Mossoró are more vulnerable to poor environmental quality conditions, unlike the more peripheral neighborhoods, lacking attention from the local government. It is expected that the results of this research contribute to the improvement of the city's environmental planning and management, the development of sustainability in the urban environment and, consequently, improve the quality of the environment and life of the urban population. As well as assist in the formulation of social and environmental public policies for the city and collaborate in the list of methodological possibilities on urban environmental quality.
